The LCD calculation

If you prefer to find the LCD manually, there is a simple algorithm to do it:

  1. Find the maximum denominator.
  2. Check if you can perform integer division of this denominator by each other denominator.
  3. If you can, then you have found the answer - you've got your least common denominator.
  4. If you can't, multiply maximum denominator by 2.
  5. Check if you can perform integer division of this number by each other denominator.
  6. If you can, then you have found the answer - you've got your least common denominator.
  7. If you can't, multiply maximum denominator by 3.
  8. Check if you can perform integer division of this number by each other denominator.
  9. If you can, then you have found the answer - you've got your least common denominator.
  10. If you can't, multiply maximum denominator by 4, etc...
